Grasshopper Up High

We are back from the beach - we went to Chincoteague Island and it was lovely, what a great week. I screwed up my courage and climbed to the top of the Assateague Light House. Over 175 rickety steps, I almost gave up. Fortunately, my husband Matt was great and kept prodding me on to make it to the top. The view was very worth it! While I was up there, I took a great photo of a grasshopper sitting on the railing.

Pretty neat!

What We're Up To

This month we embroidered a new tablecloth for the Rochester Celiac Support Group. The tablecloth design was almost 42" across and over 110,000 stitches!! Our daughter, Emily, has Celiac. Here is what the president of RCSG, Cassandra Coffey, had to say:

"The Rochester Celiac Support Group offers guidance for those following a gluten-free diet and works to increase awareness about celiac disease and gluten sensitivity in the Rochester community. Last year Robben's Nest Stitchery made beautifully embroidered aprons for our group. They've been great in helping to identify our group and its volunteers at community events and meetings. We also recently had Robben's Nest Stitchery make an embroidered tablecloth for the group. It was a BIG project, but Pati didn't hesitate to take it on, and we are thrilled with the results! With both of our projects, Pati provided her expertise and creative talents in helping to choose layout, fonts, and colors, and she was able to work within our short timeline. We couldn't have asked for more! Thanks Pati!"

The RCSG has been great to work with and is a great organization. Find them on the web for more information!

Busy Month

This has been a very busy month at Robben's Nest Stitchery! We have finished up our order for Webster Modified Softball and the girls seemed very happy. We did sweatshirts and pants, t-shirts, shorts and drawstring bags. Some of the items were embroidered and some were printed. It was a fun project. We also had a very successful show at the Pittsford United Church's "Mom to Mom" sale. We met a lot of nice people and sales were good! A great new client this month is Geva Theater, in Rochester, NY. We donated 5 items, including a polo shirt, fleece blanket, 2 hats, and a large tote bag - all embroidered with their logo. The items looked great and we are hoping they raise lots of money for this neat organization!

What We're Up To

The Hottest Looks are a Cool Way to Raise Money!

At the NNEP conference we attended in March, we learned about the latest decoration techniques for apparel. What is all the rage in popular stores like the Gap and Abercrombie and Fitch is available for customization right now!

Mult-layer appliques, like the Panthers, Hawks, and Cheer! logos at right, can be made to order for any team or organization. They are a high end look and offer a great opportunity for fund raising. These appliques can be applied to many items and the minimum order is low.

Chenille lettering, like the number 5, is a great vintage look - think Varsity jackets. Available in multiple sizes and color combinations, chenille lettering can also be combined with embroidery.

Add "Bling" with crystals! Like the Class of '09 image, almost any picture or wording can be made into a crystal transfer.

All of these great apparel decoration techniques, and many more, are available at Robben's Nest Stitchery. If you are looking for a great, unique way to raise money for your organization or show team spirit, CALL US today to arrange a consultation!

What's New At Robben's Nest

We are heading into the month of April with some exciting new developments to Robben's Nest Stitchery! We are adding a second embroidery machine to the shop, we attended a great conference and we have started to deliver our first batch of varsity jackets.

Our new Tajima 15 needle commercial embroidery machine will be delivered in the next couple of weeks. We are very excited! This machine will be more robust and faster. By adding a second machine, we are increasing our production capacity and decreasing our per piece embroidery time - making our pricing even more competitive. We will send out a quick email when it arrives if anyone is interested in coming by and taking a look!

In mid-March, we attended the National Network of Embroidery Professionals annual conference in Dublin, Ohio. What a great experience to be surrounded by other professionals in the decorated apparel industry and to learn about "What's New". We attended a class on all of the new decorative threads available for machine embroidery - including wool, soft metallics and even fire resistant thread. Classes on sales and marketing on the internet were also very interesting.

The wool varsity jackets with leather trim details by Holloway have been very well received. Each jacket is custom made to order, with hundreds of possible combinations in color and options. We are looking to increase our varsity jacket sales and this order has gotten us off to a great start!

Happy Spring!

Beautiful Weekend - Full of Painting

What a beautiful weekend we had! Nice to be at home and relax. I made a great ham dinner, with steamed asparagus and garlic smashed potatoes and raisin sauce. YUM! Since the weather was so lovely, we took the opportunity to finally finish the painting on our picket fences at the end of the drive. The flowers are not yet up, except the daffodils, so it went very smoothly. Stop by and check it out if you happend to be passing by! I am working on the latest version of the Robben's Nest Stitchery newsletter and will be posting the latest news on the blog as well. Hope you all enjoyed the sun!!

Custom Embroidered Hand Prints

During the month of March, our item of the month is custom embroidered hand prints. We will embroider your child's actual handprints on your choice of items. Pillows, tote bags and aprons are popular choices. What a wonderful and lasting keepsake any mother would love!

It's So Easy To Do!!

On a sheet of regular 8 1/2 by 11 inch white printer paper, trace child's hand in pencil. Outline the handprint with thick black marker. Write child's name and age, if desired, inside the handprint. Mail your paper, along with your contact information, to:

Robben's Nest Stitchery
133 South Main St.
Pittsford, NY
14534

We will contact you to finalize the details.

Cost:

For the first item: $20.00 plus the cost of the item to be embroidered.

For each additional item: $10.00 plus the cost of the item to be embroidered.

If you are a quilter, we can embroider the handprints on a 14X14 inch square of white Kona Cotton for just $20.00 (no additional costs) You can then add the embroidery to any project you are working on.
